Yes, you heard it right, the cryptocurrency advocate and the United State’s entrepreneur- John McAfee has fled from the country in order to run for post of president of the U.S. On 22nd Jan, in his video statement he told that he had been accused by the U.S. tax authorities- Internal Revenue Service (IRS). He, therefore, has made up his mind to run his U.S. Presidential campaign from the international waters sitting in a boat.
According to the news sources, McAfee has said that ‘he had learned that a grand jury had been convened against him by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).’ McAfee further explained that although he does not know the details of the allegations that are made against him. He also revealed that he had not paid the taxes for the past eight years. Yesterday, he uploaded several video messages on Twitter. In his first video message, he stated,
“I have made no secret of it; I have not filed returns.” He further added, “The IRS has convened a grand jury in the state of Tennessee to charge myself, my wife […] and four of my campaign workers with unspecified IRS crimes of a felonious nature.
McAfee plans on running for the U.S. Presidential campaign from the boat in the exile. He plans to make use of ‘proxies on U.S. territory.’ He has been an advocate of cryptocurrency in the last few years. He caught attention due to his rather infamous statement when he said- “I will eat my d**k on national television” in case the rates of Bitcoin BTC did not hit 1 million dollars by next year.
On the other hand, McAfee had been endorsing crypto-based products last year. In 2018, he endorsed ‘Bitfi’- an ‘unhackable’ Bitcoin wallet. McAfee’s tall statements have been making him gain the attention of the media, and at the same time drawing even more sharp attention on the fulfillment of his statements. When he endorsed ‘Bitfi’ and claimed strongly for the ‘unhackable’ capacity of Bitfi; upon hacking of Bitfi, it has to withdraw the tall claims it made. Therefore, on similar lines, it would be interesting to see how McAfee is going to handle the U.S. Presidential campaign from a boat.
