Decentralized internet project TRON (TRX) has announced the launch of an accelerator program to support developers building decentralized apps on the TRON protocol. As per the official press release, Tron is introducing the $1 million project, in a bid to empower developers, encourage innovation and enhance consumer adoption into the blockchain industry using the TRON platform.
Hackathons and accelerator programs are meant to attract developers to create and launch decentralized apps and products on their blockchain. Projects like Tron, EOS, and Cardano are competing hard to make their mark in the market for DApps and smart contracts.
Registration for the accelerator program will open in December. Developer teams will be invited to submit their decentralized application project which will be built on the TRON network. The winners will be announced at TRON’s niTRON Summit scheduled to be held between 17⎯18 January 2019 in San Francisco.
A total of 56 winners are expected to be chosen with the first, second and third positions to receive $200,000, $100,000 and $50,000, respectively.
The competition will also see eight winners in eight different categories being selected based on specific criteria.

42 winners will be selected in the finalist prize. The Grand Prize winners will also get the opportunity for free travel and accommodation during the niTROn Summit as well as future TRON investments.
The panel of judges for the competition includes leading figures from various industries like, Justin Sun, CEO and Founder, TRON and BitTorrent, Cong Li, US Head of TRON Protocol, TRON, Vincent Niu, CEO, DappReview, Alex Wearn, CEO, Aurora, Daniel Fernandez, CEO and Founder, Dexdex, Haozhi Chen, Founder, Cocos-BCX, Dio Ianakiara, CEO, TronWallet Inc., Discus Fish, CEO and Co-Founder, Cobo Wallet, Juliun Brabon, CEO and Co-founder, Sesameseed.
Tron Foundation explained that this accelerator program is in line with the recent acquisition of peer-to-peer file sharing service BitTorrent, Project Atlas, and payment service Poppy app.
In October, Tron released a wide range of tools to help its developer community including Tron Web which connects developers to the Tron blockchain, TronGrid which gives DApp developers access to Tron Network. And also, TronBox and TronStudio for testing and deploying smart contracts.
Currently, the TRON ecosystem processes more than one million transactions and 600,000 wallets. According to CoinMarketCap, TRX is the 11th top cryptocurrency, presently trading at $0.018885 with a total market capitalization of over $1.2 billion.
