Adult Entertainment Goes Crypto

One of Pornhub's subsidiaries is looking at a novel way to reward its users for tuning in for adult entertainment, so it's turning to blockchain to create a rewards system for viewers.

Adult Crypto

Crypto news outlet Hard Fork reported on August 17 that adult entertainment streaming service Tube8, a subsidiary of Pornhub, has teamed up with Vice Industry Token (VIT) to integrate a reward system into their website. Tube8 will reward users with VIT tokens for watching or interacting with adult content on the site.

Tube8 expects the implementation of the token program to take place by the end of the year. The move will make the website the first ever adult website to adopt a token-based rewards system, and the first to actually pay users for their on-site activity.

Rewarding Porn With Crypto

Robin Turner, Tube8’s spokesperson told Hard Fork that “getting paid to watch porn was always a pipe dream; one that was always dreamed about, but never fully realized.”

Turner continues, saying:

“Now, however, with the introduction of VIT, we are marking a paradigm shift in how people consume adult entertainment … Whereas before users would log in, watch a few videos and leave, VIT incentivizes them to create an account and interact with the content to generate Vice Tokens.”

Adult EntertainmentBefore the platform launches, VIT CEO Stuart Duncan says they will migrate from the Ethereum blockchain to a fork of the Steem blockchain, Graphene.

Turner adds that the platform VIT uses is “fully decentralized. [It] is the only true working fork of Steem in existence,”

Tube8 isn’t the only adult entertainment site that aims to integrate blockchain and cryptocurrencies into their platforms. Playboy TV and adult film actress Stormy Daniels revealed early this year that they were looking at using tokens as a means to reward viewers. Tube8’s parent company Pornhub also added cryptocurrencies Verge, Tron, and ZenCash as payment options on their platform.
