Messaging App Debuts New Digital Wallet

Canadian messaging app developer Kik has just debuted its first beta product for its Kin Token.

TechCrunch reported on July 18 that Kik has launched the beta of their new product, dubbed Kinit. The release comes in the wake of the company’s successful ICO, which raised $100 million.

A New Day For Kik

Users can exchange the token for gift cards from several brands and retailers, as well as gift or transfer their tokens.

Kik’s vice-president of communications Rod Mcleod said of the release:

“Kinit is the first publicly available app dedicated to Kin. Our goal with Kinit is to get Kin into more consumers’ hands. It’s a major step towards making crypto truly consumer-friendly through fun and engaging experiences, and we plan to learn and iterate based on real-world user behavior…”

The Kin token is based on the Ethereum blockchain and is deployed on the Stellar network to help increase transaction speeds. TechCrunch reported that Kik spent around $3 million in developing the toke. The Kinit app is the first app to get users to adopt the tool.
