As previously revealed in an article here on Ibinex, Slovenia’s very own BTC City is undergoing an intensive transformation for it to become the world’s first full-fledged crypto shopping center.
The Blagovno Transportni Center (BTC) City is situated in Ljubljana and has borne the name even before the chief cryptocurrency Bitcoin was even created by the person aliased Satoshi Nakamoto. This shopping center is a sprawling business complex adorned with over 500 stores, even including casinos and restaurants.
Previously, Slovenia’s Prime Minister Miro Cerar visited the shopping center for talks regarding its proposed transformation. He even enjoyed a hot cup of coffee purchased exclusively through cryptocurrency. This does not come as a surprise, since the prime minister expressed his support for cryptocurrency in a conference last year, implying that blockchain could be used for public services.
Furthermore, Cerar revealed that “we are also already laying the foundations for the initial pilot testing of the technology in the state administration,” hinting that they have already launched a think tank dedicated solely to the pursuit of exploring the blockchain technology and considering its integration to the nation’s affairs.
The world has yet to find out more about the ongoing developments on the city, but what’s certain is that once the transformation is complete, Slovenia will be forever known as the country to have made the first full-fledged “Bitcoin City.”
