Pre-named BTC City, Slovenia’s largest shopping center is undertaking preparations for it to become a ‘genuine Bitcoin City’ in the near future. Situated in the heart of Ljubljana, Slovenia’s capital city, BTC City is a colossal commercial business and shopping center with a 475,000-square meter area.
Recently, Slovenia’s Prime Minister Miro Cerar paid a visit to BTC City to discuss the necessary changes for the eventual transformation of the commercial center into a comprehensive and ‘official’ digital society. He even received ‘a cup of crypto coffee’ during their morning meeting.
The aforementioned shopping center was named BTC City in 1990, a good 18 years ahead of the birth of the cryptocurrency Bitcoin. Presently, it contains a hotel, a casino, a multiplex cinema, even a water park, and Slovenia’s tallest building, the Crystal Palace.
With this, the company behind BTC City claims that it would be “the first of its kind in the world to provide its visitors, consumers and business partners with an ecosystem that will develop and integrate advanced technologies based on state-of-the-art approaches.” Included in the massive technologies to be introduced into the landscape are blockchain and cryptocurrencies, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), and Machine Learning (ML).
