Announced in a blog post Tuesday, BitGo announced that Josh Schartz was hired as their new VP of sales. BitGo says that his experience in business development roles will help the company in “building institutional-grade security, storage, compliance, and custody solutions for digital assets.” BitGo announced that this hiring is part of their effort to build their own asset custodian.
According to the blog post,
“Josh comes to us with over 16 years of sales leadership in financial services. He brings a strong background in trading technology and transaction cost analysis, and has extensive capital markets experience across buy-side and sell-side firms.”
Before being hired by BitGo, Schwartz was Bloomberg’s global head of business development for its Tradebook product, worked at Axion Investment Advisors as their former head of business development, and also worked at Cantor Fitzgerald.
The hiring also comes in the wake of BitGo’s decision to no longer proceed with their planned purchase of the Kingdom Trust asset custodian, instead opting to build its own.
